David Krackhardt is Professor of Organizations at the Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy, with a joint appointment at the Tepper School of Business.
The judges described David as "an intellectual giant on whose shoulders we have stood to see farther." Over the last four decades, David has made signature contributions to the field that have greatly advanced social network theory (e.g., his work on Simmelian ties) and methods (e.g., the Quadratic Assignment Procedure). Along the way, David Krackhardt has trained many of the leading scholars in the field of network analysis; he has a contagious mind. To read Krackhardt's work is to gain new eyes with which to see the social world. We are truly grateful to David for his contributions to the field.
